The Memorial Society welcomes the resolution “On the Rule of Law in Russia” adopted by the European Parliament on 17 February 2011.

The resolution gives accurate and hard-hitting evaluations of critically important aspects of the human rights situation in Russia.

The European Parliament expressed its view about those issues and matters that Russian civil society itself has continually raised over recent years.

We call on the authorities of the Russian Federation to be attentive to the recommendations made in this resolution. Their implementation would be for the good of Russia.
