Petition against law on residence registration sent to Federal Migration Service and State Duma

The petition against the law on residence registration [propiska] with more than 100,000 signatures has been sent to the Federal Migration Service and the State Duma, activists have been informed by the Presidential Administration.

As Kasparov.ru reports, a scan of the document was published on 4 April on the website Propiska.Net.

Earlier it had been reported that Novosibirsk artist Artem Loskutov had gathered 100,000 signatures on the Internet against the bill on residence registration. 

The bill increasing liability for violations of the rules of residence registration has already been approved by the State Duma in first reading. The bill was initiated by President Vladimir Putin. Human rights defenders and experts have called the bill unconstitutional.
