Beastie Boys band member Adam Horowitz, better known as Ad Rock, appeared in public for the first time since the death of former bandmate Adam Yoke at an event to support the Russian punk-group Pussy Riot, reports Kasparov.ru, citing The Guardian.

On 12 June, Horowitz appeared at the New York City nightclub Death by Auto for a concert organized in support of the Russian feminist punk rockers Pussy Riot, arrested after taking part in a protest against President Vladimir Putin, the newspaper states.

Three of the group’s members are being held in pre-trial detention on charges of hooliganism and face up to seven years in prison, adds the publication.

Horowitz participated in the event as a DJ.

Adam Yoke, a former bandmate and founding member of the Beastie Boys, died of cancer on 4 May in New York City. He was 47 years old. Since Yoke’s death, Horowitz and bandmate Michael Diamond (Mike D) had not appeared in public.

In March, Moscow police arrested three members of Pussy Riot for staging an anti-clerical punk-prayer called “Virgin Mary, rid us of Putin” at the Cathedral of Christ the Saviour.
