In 2012 the Ministry of Justice sent 9,000 requests to close NGOs to the courts. Moreover, the Ministry told RIA Novosti that its officials issued 45,000 warnings, stopped the operations of 21 organizations, and brought 5,610 charges under administrative law. These are the statistics of the record-setting work of officials in 2012 in their efforts to 'weed' and to 'purge’ civil society. [Read more]
