General Prosecutor’s Office: The Murder of Natalya Estemirova Can Be Considered Solved

On 8 September 2011 the General Prosecutor’s Office of Russia announced that the murder of human rights defender Natalya Estemirova in July 2009 could be considered solved. 

This statement was made by Aleksei Vasilkov, deputy head of the General Prosecutor’s Office for the North Caucasus District. He pointed out that the investigation has identified a suspect for whom an arrest warrant has been issued. According to Vasilkov, all possible versions of the murder are being considered, including those involving official bodies, Radio Liberty reports. [Read more]
