Olga Romanova, a journalist, human rights activist and head of the association “Jailed Russia”, has reported a murder threat voiced publicly on the television channel NTV to the Investigative Committee of the Russian Federation.

A Novaya gazeta article on the matter was written by Romanova herself.

The decision to lodge a complaint with the law-enforcement body came in response to an episode of the show “Emergency Investigation” on the television channel NTV during which it was stated that Romanova and her “cronies” were not spending the money they had collected to help prisoners as they claimed, but were in fact using it to fund Ukrainian “Right Sector" activists.

According to Radio Svoboda, one of the "experts" invited to speak on the NTV show said that "Romanova will be hunted down and killed for this".

Olga Romanova plans to stand for election to the Moscow City Duma.

The journalist believes that the comments made about her on the NTV show represent a genuine politically-motivated threat.
