On 27 November, Chelyabinsk Region Public Oversight Commission members Dina Latypova and Nikolai Shchur succeeded in gaining access to the Kopeisk Strict Regime Correctional Colony No.6, which has been the site of a mass protest by prisoners since Saturday. In the days prior to this the members of the Public Oversight Commission encountered great problems in getting access to Correctional Colony No.6. And on this occasion they also had to put up with obstacles and foot dragging. Nikolai Shchur talked to Memorial about how access was gained to the colony and what the prisoners themselves had to say about the Kopeisk "Uprising." [Read more]
