Sergei Mokhnatkin beaten in prison

Sergei Mokhnatkin, sentenced to 2,5 years in prison on charges of resisting a police officer at a demonstration organized by Strategy-31, has been beaten by prison officers at the penal colony in Torzhok, Tverskaya region, where he is serving his sentence. 

This report by Gazeta.ru is based on information received from Valery Shukhardin, Sergei Mokhnatkin’s legal representative and a member of the council of experts of the Human Rights Ombudsman of the Russian Federation. 

“At the present time I have very little information. It is not clear what exactly happened there…Sergei Mokhnatkin has said that he has a small bruise to his forehead, and that it would seem one of the prison officers beat him, but that is what we know from his own words so far, the information has not been checked,’ Valery Shukhardin said. [Read more]
