![]() Source: HRO.org (info) The Ministry of Justice has drafted a bill "On the introduction of amendments to Article 32 of the Federal Law 'On non-profit organisations'" which it published on its website on 28th January. Lenta.ru reports that the amendments to the Federal Law "On non-profit organisations" contain a list of reasons why an NGO may be subject to an unscheduled check. Firstly, if the deadline for fixing violations identified in an earlier check has expired. Secondly, if the media or individuals have notified the authorities of signs of extremism in the organisation's activities. Thirdly, if state bodies or local government bodies have notified the authorities of offences in the organisation's activities. And finally, if the head of an authorised body orders a check on orders of the President of the Russian Federation, the government of the Russian Federation or the Prosecutor's Office. These rules previously only applied to NGOs registered as "foreign agents". If this bill is passed they will extend to all non-profit organisations.
