Presidential Council announces plan for public broadcasting

The Presidential Human Rights Council has submitted for discussion a draft of its plan to develop a public television channel. The text of the draft, which appears on the Council’s website, outlines the main goals of public broadcasting along with the potential program content and sources of financing. 

The mission of public television is stated to be the formation of civil society in Russia. Priorities for programme selection highlight independence, an ability to ‘present and discuss key public issues’, ‘reflexivity’ and ‘modeling of the future’. [Read more]
