In Pussy Riot Case, Moscow City Court Rules Alekhina and Samutsevich Must Stay in Pre-Trial Detention

On 11 May 2012 Moscow city court upheld on appeal the extension of pre-trial detention for two alleged participants in the Pussy Riot punk music group. As a result, Maria Alekhina and Ekaterina Samutsevich, charged with an act of hooliganism in Christ the Saviour cathedral, will remain in detention until 24 June, the lawyer Violetta Volkova acting on behalf of Maria Alekhina at the initiative of Agora Human Rights Association has said. [Read more]
