The State Duma has adopted a declaration on defending the religious feelings of citizens. Duma deputies had already publicly condemned the desecration of religious shrines, such as the cutting down of crosses and committing provocative acts in a church. Discussions are being held on introducing a separate article into the Criminal Code for insulting someone’s religious feelings. The punishment will be much more severe than for “simply” causing offence. [Read more]
