Union of Journalists Complains to General Prosecutor’s Office about Bastrykin

The Union of Journalists of Russia has appealed to the General Procurator’s Office to examine information about the conflict between Aleksandr Bastrykin, chair of the Investigative Committee, and Sergei Sokolov, deputy chief editor of Novaya Gazeta, the website Lenta.ru has reported, citing Interfax. The appeal of the Union's presidium was circulated on the evening of 13 June. The text notes that the journalist community in Moscow is "seriously worried about the situation". The authors are asking the heads of the General Procurator’s Office to examine the legality of actions and behaviour of both sides in the conflict and ensure that journalists can work safely.
