Transport Police Conduct Surveillance of “Leaders of Informal Groups”

On the eve of the State Duma elections transport police are monitoring the movements of the leaders of informal groups. Interfax reported that a statement to this effect was made by Elena Kolomeitseva of the press service of the transport police. “Monitoring the movements of the leaders of informal groups and other individuals of an extremist frame of mind is conducted on a permanent basis,” Elena Kolomeitseva said. 

Grani.ru reports that, in the words of Elena Kolomeitseva, the transport police will pay special attention to the impermissible preparation of unlawful election materials. “For the purpose of preventing negative actions by radical organizations and informal groupings a system for the exchange of information among territorial police departments, other law enforcement agencies and also the transport administration has been organized,” she added. [Read more]
